✦ How the readings are generated ✦
Interpretations are written by Claude, a large language model built by Anthropic, running against the traditional Rider-Waite-Smith symbolism. Each reading receives your drawn cards, their positions, and your question, and writes an interpretation for that exact combination. The live voice readings run on the same interpretive foundation with real-time speech. Nothing is pre-written; two people drawing the same cards will not receive the same text.
The card draws themselves are random, in the way a physical shuffle is random. The AI never chooses which cards appear; it only reads what was drawn.

Every reading follows the same standing rules. For reflection, not prophecy: readings frame the cards as a mirror for thinking about your situation, never as a prediction machine. No doom: heavy cards are read honestly but constructively; we do not frighten people for engagement. No health, legal, or financial directives: the cards can help you think about a decision, but a reading is never a substitute for a professional. Grounded tone: no cosmic jargon walls, no manufactured mysticism, no telling you what you want to hear.

We use the Rider-Waite-Smith deck, illustrated by Pamela Colman Smith in 1909 and now in the public domain. It is the deck most tarot literature is written against, which makes it the right reference both for readers learning the cards and for the AI interpreting them. All 78 card images on this site are that original artwork.
